Congratulation!
Sakshi won the Best ORAL Presentation Award at 2024 Public Health Graduate Student Conference!
Noise pollution ranks as the second largest environmental contributor to health issues, following air pollution. Despite its significant impact, public awareness remains insufficient. Sakshi, a PhD scholar at Prof. Pan’s Lab at IEOHS, presented how their team, in collaboration with professors from Academia Sinica, developed the EcoDecibel—an innovative IoT-based noise measuring device. This device overcomes the limitations of traditional Class 1 and Class 2 noise meters with its cost-effectiveness and reliability. The efficacy of EcoDecibel in diverse indoor and outdoor settings was also validated, establishing its consistency, accuracy, and reliability for continuous outdoor noise monitoring. This technological advancement holds promise for enhancing urban design and public health initiatives by facilitating comprehensive environmental noise monitoring. The potential of the EcoDecibel to inform policy decisions aimed at mitigating noise-related health risks is a source of considerable excitement.
